8:45am - 3pm @ Brooklyn, MS

Come learn the foundational skills for integrating wild foods, materials and medicine into daily life. We will:

  • Learn about and gather a multitude of useful plants (and mushrooms seasonally)
  • Process and prepare a foraged meal and experiment with preservation techniques
  • Practice methods that increase, rather than diminish, the availability of wild foods through propagation, ethical/honorable harvesting, and ecological “gardening”.
  • Read the land to understand how geography drives the distribution of natural resources and cultural landscapes
  • Take home seeds, roots and cuttings to begin tending the land right away

*Note: the Community Lunch will be separate from the foraged meal preparation; while the foraged meal will be prepared together as a class, it will come later into the day and will be more akin to a light snack. The additional $10 for the Community Lunch will be a meal prepared by us, including one on a Vegetarian (dairy and egg included) diet and Omnivore (meat included) diet.
